How booking your ESA evaluation works

Who can book

• Texas residents only. Our clinicians are licensed in Texas and may assess only patients physically located in Texas during the appointment.
• Adults, or a parent or guardian booking for a minor. A parent or legal guardian provides consent and receives the documentation.
• People seeking housing documentation. If you need public access for a trained dog, read the psychiatric service dog guide first — that is a different assessment.

If your housing is exempt from the Fair Housing Act — an owner-occupied building with four or fewer units, or a single-family home rented by the owner without a broker — tell us before you book. A letter may not help you, and we would rather say so than take your money.

What to have ready

• Any accommodation form, portal link, or written request your landlord, HOA, or university has already sent you.
• Your lease or housing contract, if it names a pet policy you are trying to work around.
• The name, species, and rough age of each animal the letter should cover.
• A short mental note of your symptoms, how long they have been going on, and what care you are already receiving. You do not need records.
• Your school's deadline or your move-in date, if either is driving the timing.

The appointment itself

A live video visit, usually twenty to thirty minutes, on a phone or laptop. The clinician reviews what you submitted, asks about your symptoms and functional limitations, asks what the animal does for you day to day, and then makes an independent determination. It is a real clinical conversation, not a form read aloud.

Roughly one in seven applicants is not approved for an ESA letter. Some are redirected toward a psychiatric service dog assessment, some toward ongoing treatment. Those clients are refunded in full, because charging for an unfavourable professional judgment would corrupt the judgment.

Timing, and how to work backward from a deadline

• 1–3 business days to get an appointment
• Same day for the letter, once approved
• 1–2 weeks for a typical apartment accommodation request
• 4–8 weeks for a university, so a fall move-in means starting six to ten weeks out

Inside that window already? Book the earliest slot and say so — expedited appointments are usually available within twenty-four hours.

What we will not do

We will not issue a letter without an appointment, sell you a registration number or ID card, promise that a specific landlord will say yes, or write documentation a clinician does not believe is accurate. Anyone offering those things is selling paper.
